Getting Started

Do you offer pick up and delivery? Yes, once a season in May. You can sign up at [link] and if you are in our service area I will add you to a route and be in touch with your scheduled date.
What areas do you cover for pick up and delivery? We run routes between Richmond and Williamsburg, Loudoun, Charlottesville, and surrounding Richmond counties. If you have 50 or more blankets and are outside of these areas, get in touch and we can talk about options.
Does my blanket need to be clean or dry before drop off? It does not need to be clean, that is what we are here for. It does need to be dry, especially for our pick up routes. Blankets can sit in storage for up to three months and a wet blanket will mold, which makes it unsafe to handle and very difficult to clean and repair. Please make sure blankets are fully dry before they come to us.
When can I drop off? Any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Include a completed service ticket and put everything in a bag. Service tickets are available on our website at luckyhorsecleaners.com.
Do I need to list every blanket on my service ticket? Yes, please. The service ticket follows your blankets through our entire process. It is how we know what came in, what needs to be done, and what goes back to you. Listing each blanket keeps everything accurate on both ends.
Turnaround Time

When will my blankets be done? It depends on how they come to us. Blankets in our pick up and delivery program are returned by the end of September. If you drop off directly to the shop, turnaround in winter is 5 to 7 business days. Summer turnaround varies because we work drop offs in between our seasonal pick up blankets, so if you start blanketing in October or earlier it is best to drop off before July.
What if I need a blanket back urgently? If you are part of our pick up and delivery program this can be difficult, as your blanket may already be in storage. If you dropped off directly to the shop it is easier to work with. In winter, for true emergency situations, we can turn blankets around same day with prior coordination. Reach out by email and we will do our best.
What We Clean and Repair

Do you clean things other than horse blankets? Yes. We clean saddle pads, girths, fly sheets, and wool coolers. Wool coolers are air dried. If you are not sure whether we can handle something, just ask.
Do you repair leather or tack? We do not. We stick to horse blankets and fabric repairs only. For leather repair or tack work we recommend finding a qualified saddler.
Can you repair my blanket? We can fix almost everything. Hardware is always a straightforward yes, including belly straps, leg straps, chest closures, and snap hooks. Tears and holes in blankets that are otherwise in good shape are also easy. Where it gets more complicated is older blankets with a lot of issues, and that is really a question of whether repair costs are worth it relative to the blanket's condition and value to you. How do I know if my blanket is worth repairing? That depends on the blanket and how much you value it, and only you can really answer that. We can tell you what repairs are needed and what they will cost. From there it is your call. A blanket in otherwise good shape with a few tears or worn hardware is almost always worth fixing. A blanket that is old, has a lot of issues, and would cost more to repair than to replace is a different conversation.
How are blankets returned? Clean, dry, and heat sealed in plastic so they are ready to go straight into storage if you are done for the season.
Payment

Do I need to pay up front? No. You will receive an invoice by email when your blankets are ready. Payment is required before pick up or delivery.
How do I pay? We invoice through QuickBooks. You will receive an email with your invoice and can pay online using standard payment options. We do not accept cash or Venmo.
